This is my first attempt to image this pair. Taken with the Canon Digital Rebel (EOS 300D) at prime focus through the Orion ED80 refractor on the Orion Atlas mount. 50 three minute subframes (with dark frames and flat frames applied - 2 1/2 hours total exposure time) were used for this image. Initial processing was done in Iris, final touches in Photoshop.
Great job Charlie. That will be my first target this coming winter. Is your 300D modified?
Nope, it's a stock camera. Thanks for the compliment!
Charlie
wow, that's just beautiful, charlie!

Hey thanks, erik!
That's the same scope I have....wow...it must be the camera. I am limited to 30s exposures in a Fuji S20.
very nice photo
Beautiful shot!
Very nice work, Charlie! Now I know exactly what the Atlas mount and ED80 are capable of.
Excellent.........
Just beautiful!!!
