D FIRST LIGHT

D FIRST LIGHT

First image with the CGX unguided. 8SE OTA, Canon T5 (1200D), BYEOS. Truly lucky.

Hi there, that's a great shot. I really want to image the Ring nebula (or is that the Helix) when it comes around to the Southern hemisphere. Could you please share the camera details you used for this shot (ISO, shutter speed etc)?

    Thanks, Andrew

    Hi Andrew,

That was my first image ever...taken last May when I finally got things working in unison...by accident mostly. Had just got my new-to-me CGX. I had my 8SE mounted and used the Canon T5.

Here's the skinny on my First Light:

Andrew, the Ring Nebula, M57, is NEVER going to be in the southern sky. It is +33° (North) declination. If your southern latitude is -37°, it would be at 20° above your horizon...still difficult to image. If you're closer to the Equator than that, it might help. But it's never coming to visit you.

    Thanks for the C&C!

    Cheers!

    Daniel
