04-23-2019. M104, The Sombrero Galaxy, is now up in the eastern sky near the bright star Spica.

The Sombrero Galaxy is in the constellation Virgo found 31,100,000 light years from Earth. It has a bright nucleus, an unusually large central bulge, and a prominent dust lane in its inclined disk. The dark dust lane and the bulge give this galaxy the appearance of a sombrero hat.

This image was captured by my Celestron 8in SCT, focally reduced to f6.3. The camera here was a Canon XTi.
30, 60sec shots were captured and the stacked in DSS.
