ES 10" Gen II truss dob mods - shroud, finder scope, dew shield, and scissor jack
Shroud constructed of 2 spandex/polyester round, bar-height table covers with square bottom (outer one used is red, inner one used is black - both 24" x 43" just under $15 each). The tailor at the cleaners helped me hem the top of the shroud (by the dew shield). I used a long Velcro strip to secure the top edge of the shroud to the bottom of the dew shield. Focuser is not obstructed and works as normal.
I purchased the counterweights, which are very useful for balancing this front-heavy scope.
I put the scope on a heavy-duty, wheeled scissor jack with a weight capacity of 300 lbs. The set up is stable (jack is heavy - about 50 lbs), but I used bungee cords to keep the rocker box more secure on the jack when I move it around. The jack was expensive - just under $180. Worth every penny...
I also used the 50mm straight-through finder from my AR127 as a replacement for the red dot finder. Because of the dew shield, I had to remove the stopper screw on the finder shoe in order to put the finder scope rings on the shoe. This was easy with the finder first removed from the rings. Then, I put the stopper screw back on the shoe, mounted the rings, then inserted the finder scope in the rings.
