Of course, it is my scope, so I may be a bit biased.

Wasn't someone asking about those odd spectroscope doo-hickies in here a while back? I read somewhere, I forget where at the moment, that the spectroscope thingy goes into the focuser just like an eyepiece and is used in some similar fashion.
I look forward to hearing your report on it when it arrives.
(I'll keep my fingers crossed for you that it arrives safely and well-packed)
Regards and clear skies,

The spectroscope you are talking about is also coming with the telescope, Steve Miller (Steve M M) being the kind seller. I've been doing some research on the spectroscope, plus Steve has passed on some info direct from GOTO as well. There were apparently two types, a direct view spectroscope and a projection spectroscope. The one coming looks much more complex than the direct view. Perhaps it is the projection, or possibly a combo unit. I dunno. One thing I can be sure of, it is going to be fun trying to figure out how it all works. These aren't toys, either. Two independent sources confirm that these instruments are good enough to split the double sodium lines.

No Unitrons here.
Keith (I do have an old catalog laying around here somewhere, though.. )

WOW That case was in really nice shape!
Steve Miller said it was in pretty bad shape when he got it. It looks like he did a really nice job of finishing it. It left Calee-forn-eya today, Oregon-bound.
It looks like I have the baby brother to your's and Dick's. (Perhaps we could start a yahoo.goto group? )

As I told Keith, it is ok...better than what it was, but I am no woodworker that is for sure.
