Is there any kind of buyers guide to these older scopes or is it just experience? Also, is there any resources out there for how to restore these instruments? How do you folks remove the dings and dents they all seem to have?

www.telescopebluebook.com breaks down the prices of transactions observed over a period of years.

You've already found it. ;)

The archive of this forum probably represents the most comprehensive collection of classic scope restoration information and stories. It's not handily indexed, nor easy to wade through, but cunning use of Google should dig up what you need.

But I agree, it would be nice to have some sort of authoritative book or source on the subject.

Regards and clear skies,

MikeG
