Bidding starts at $200... Very sweet scope. Maybe I'll get two in the same month....

From my experience as a collector (coins, maps, knives) purchasing the very best you can afford almost always pays off in terms of appreciation. Short term pain, but long term gain. And you have to really like what you collect, otherwise just get CD's and mutual funds.

Actually, relooking at the ad, the fact that this scope appears to be extremely complete and unused down to the wrappings probably raises the value up somewhat, although $275 minimum for this scope still seems high.

Then again, since I just paid over $800 for a 2.4" f15, who am I to laugh?

Looks nice, but that's one scope I've never experienced. How good are they?

Usually the Sears 2.4's are good to excellent opticaly. Both of mine work very well and are just slightly undercorrected.

I agree that the seller is just a wee-bit on the optimistic side. The BIN price was quite astronomical. But, if the scope is in the condition promised (absolutely mint), then it is surely a rare find.

Regards and clear skies,

Well, well. Looks like one of these just went on Astromart for $140 plus shipping. I guess these prices really are starting to go up.

Perhaps $200 isn't unreasonable, but that $70 shipping though on this one...yikes.

$900? I missed that. You could get two or three 2.4" Unitrons for that price. $200 seems like a downright steal.

Which one was that? The one at the top of this thread is still there. No bids yet. It says shipping to me would be $38.88 with UPS. That seems high too but then again it is UPS. I have not had good luck with the shipping gorillas at UPS. I've had 2 well packed mirrors arrive broken with them. I worry about these old scopes getting shipped. I try to look for equipment I can pick up locally.
