I haven't used a 60mm in a long time, but while I was out using my 80mm shorty, I decided to look at Mars. The scope is only good to 40x before color causes problems, so I tried a color filter, and that worked good at 63x. Not a bad view, polar cap was fairly easy. I decided to make a mask to stop the scope down to 60mm. Same power, but no filters, it looked just as good; polar cap and some darkening in the middle of the planet! I must say that I'm a little impressed with what a very small scope can do. I think I will try some deep sky objects next.
