Well, it must be good. A 50mm objective cell the user can collimate. My 60mm Goto Kogaku OG was also made my Nippon Kogaku under subcontract to similar design.

No. Separate company. Seizo Goto worked at Nikon, left and started Goto Optical in his house, but contracted out the lenses and tripods at first, then just the lenses. In-house lenses came after the company grew. The designs of the telescopes and mounts between the two companies were completely different, definitely no rebadging going on.

This is a hard choice. Both are unique and wonderful scopes. I would think about it long and hard! :)

Clint,

Short answer...yes.

Goto has no records of the 2.4" OR 3" inverted fork telescopes. They are that rare. After all, you were quickly provided a web link that showed and discussed your 50mm with detail. I have been unable to find ANY information or even pictures on the inverted fork design (other than from a couple of other owners here) in ANY catalog, book or website, English or Japanese. I can't even determine the fancy name the factory gave it. And, best of all, your 3" will have still a Nikon lens. To the right collector, you are probably talking a $1,200 telescope if box and standard accessories are included.
