#200112734467. This clown thinks this scope is in excellent condition. Doesn't say anything about eyepieces but does have a barlow. Must think it has a peep sight finder thru the empty ring mount!  But hey full guarantee!! :grin:Mike

I'm trying to figure out what is stuck into the diagonal... it looks like an empty sewing thread spool. Surely that isn't some kind of ancient brass eyepiece.

That object in the focuser is a beat-up yellow Kellner eyepiece - one of the color coded eps that is supposed to come with this scope package. Judging by the rough condition of the eyepiece, I would not expect anything less when the objective glass is revealed. Someone who lets their eyepieces end up in that condition, cannot be trusted with the rest of the scope, IMO.

This is another one of those cases of a risky sale - it might be a bargain, or it might have OG covered in scratches? Who knows. I bet the seller doesn't.

Regards and clear skies,

Its pretty bad. Lots of dings everywhere.

The finder scope is in the EP tray.

I wouldn't take it free if I had to pay shipping. That one's pure junk.

Old eagle eye huh? I didn't even bother to study it. Thought it was the barlow but is kinda hidden behind the leg.  Mike

The funny thing is, the seller probably thinks it IS a peep sight  . I also always get a kick out of the newtonians with the business end pointed down "because the eyepiece belongs down at the bottom". It happens surprisingly often.

No wait,

That's the "towel ring" where you can stick your old t-shirt thru after you wipe your brow during a hot night of observing. These old scopes had ALL the best options! :rofl2:

Thanks for the info on the colored eyepieces. Seems I vaguely remember when that was in vogue.
