The shockwave effects in the Crescent Nebula image, if that's what they in fact are, are fascinating. Awesome job to all but Phil's was one I had never seen before as far as I can recall. Stunning.

Stunning work by all. Really, everytime I think 'another contest', but each time I open the page it just blows me away. Comparing oranges and apples, I cant give enough cred to Phil22 for 'beginning'imaging. That is one spectacular shot. PhilG's is an awesomely detailed image and yes, it's the best I have ever seen. Try a Google for the same nebula and I think you'll agree.
With heaps of praise for all entrants, mine went to Erix as to be able to sketch like that is just not fair on the rest of us! :D

All are winners in my book.

PhilG's work. If you can pull away from the Cresent for just a second look at all the detail of the surrounding nebulosity in downtown Cygnus. You could gaze for hours.
And, Erika's artistry gets a strong runners up!

I voted for Erika, but I've got to state it was like comparing apples to oranges. IMHO each is a winner in its own way. I really liked the image of Jupiter. NGC6888 is outstanding. I guess I went with Erika because I really respect those that can create an image with their own eyes, hands, and fingers. It's a talent I don't possess. Also I believe the series showing how a particular event evolves has significant value. Congratulations to each, but a special accolade to Erika.

PhilG got my vote, anyone making one picture spanning 11 days deserves to be recognized. But Erika, it was a very close race. You're drawings are outstanding! Everyone's entries were great.

I like all! All of them are great! I am not astrophotographer but how 18 hours or even longer work? Require several night to do it? That's mean must be very accurate point to the deep sky object but I don't know!

Congratulations to all contestants. Erika's sketch is "numero uno" but Jupiter looks amazing too, plus all the other photographs are incredible. Keep up the good work and dedication to our beautiful hobby, the Universe.

My vote goes to CCD Imaging & Processing's Finalist - PhilG.
One of the finest images of the Crescent I have ever seen. To my eyes there is real 3D going on here.
