Niiice. I've purchased from Robert before; offered to purchase this for weekend star parties and take the classic long focus achromat show on the road . A bit more affordable to me than the previous drool-worthy Nikon. Fingers crossed...

I just purchased an ultra rare 4mm Brandon eyepiece from the early 1950's to COMPLETE my Brandon collection of 4 refractors (130mm,94mm,80mm and 63mm)he was a pleasure to deal with.

Well its mine and we have to work out the details...I love the cool "instrument gray" of the mount. Where's my white lab coat!

Robert attracts all these vintage goodies like a magnet...I don't know how he does it. I purchased a previous mount from him, a D&G Optical DG150 gem w/pedestal...massive w/1 1/2" shafts for my departed 5" f/12. It was a perfect match and complete D&G rig.

Bob's delivering his Goto 4" f/15 to me and driving back to Conn with Don's superb Nikon 100/1200ED we all lust after...me and Don are just 30-40 minutes apart (straddling the Maryland/Delaware state line) so Bob's beside himself with the fate of this transaction and SMALL world! Its a deal made in astro heaven

Patrick BRO I dig the avitar... The scope you purchased should be a lulu. John Pons 8" Goto has a 1953 3" f15 guide scope I have been looking thur and itis a great scope. 2 things kept me from buying this scope # 1 my completed 1967 4" F15 Unitron and the 1966 stock El Camino I am looking to buy next week???

The original 3" Brandon wasn't reintroduced as far as I know. They were originally introduced in 1948 and a couple of advertisements ran in S&T at that time The fancy advertisement I posted was from the December 1954 S&T.

The scope uses the classic 3" air-spaced Brandon objective, a fully baffled tube assembly, integrated diagonal helical focuser, internally adjusted finder. It's an interesting little instrument. Apparently there were between 100 and 200 produced over the years.

I haven't done enough serious observing with it to comment on the excellence of the objective, although it performed very nicely. I just didn't critically test it.

(This was originally a Goto thread, and I'd just like to say that the 4" Goto is one beautiful instrument.)
