I received my newest addition to my telescope collection this morning. It cleaned up nicely. Some movements such as the focuser and azimuth were frozen, but I was able to free them up and they now work smoothely. Star tested this evening. Diffractions rings are round for about 300 degrees and then are sharply cut off. Virtually no color on the moon at 150x. Could see detail on the surface of Mars. All the accessories are present and in good condition. The case is real nice except for the top which has deliminated. Could use some tips of where to go to get a new veneer made.

Overall, very pleased.

Happy Holidays to all,
Dan

Nice job. Beautiful telescope.

I have wondered about the stability of that scope on its mount. How is it?

Nice pictures, I'll be adding them to my picture collection. The alt/az mount looks substantial for that scope. Thanks, Bonco

Dear Steve, I had it out last night and stability did not appear to be a problem. It seems the mount and tripod are well matched to the weight and length of the OTA. I was pleased on how light the whole system was and how easy it was to move it around. I`ll check it out again tonight. I have not seen many GOTOs in the past, but the ones I have seen all had black bakelite objective lens covers. Mine is chromed metal. Have any of you ever seen a chrome objective lens cover on a GOTO telescope? Thanks for the kind comments, Dan

Star tested this evening. Diffractions rings are round for about 300 degrees and then are sharply cut off.

Are you saying that the diffraction pattern isn't round, but clipped? If so, try another diagonal. It may be misaligned. I had this problem with an old Meade prism diagonal...I isolated the problem by experimenting with a cheap mirror diagonal.

A beauty of a scope. Thanks for sharing.

Yes Keith, It looks clipped. My problem is that this is the only .965" diagonal I own. Thanks for advice. Dan
