For those seeking information on the most famous USA Hammer stone (Peekskill), see the following webpage :

http://aquarid.physi...s/peekskill.htm

Peekskill was one of the most photographed and videotaped fireball/bolides ever. It streaked over a densely populated area, at night, on a busy evening. Numerous videos and stills of the bolide are on this webpage.

There is also some nice informative links with .PDF files explaining different aspects of the fall.

Also of note are the other pages of bolide videos, including Tagish Lake, which some believe was a comet.

Note, the thumbnails for the videos are broken, but the video links do work.

The following link is USAF Fireball Press Releases :

Note also, here is the USAF-Release link for the famous Park Forest Hammer :

:)

Regards and clear falling skies!

The Peeskill was 1st seen in WV, then plowed into a car in NY. Quite a visible distance (500 miles) in 40 seconds. Its flight path went right through my backyard! :ooo:
