I've had this for decades. I don't remember where I got it, but I think it may be unusual as it has a female author and it's intended for the beginning amateur. I just don't know how many lady amateur astronomers there were in 1890. It's kind of like a volume I have from 1819 that was used as a medical textbook. On the flyleaf the student has inscribed her name with a beautiful handwriting. I've always wondered who that lady was studying medicine in the USA in the early 1800s. I've always wondered whether she made it through school , if she actually practiced, and finally I've always admired her courage. Back to the astronomy book. From the promotional blurbs she has written several similar books. The copywrite date is 1890. The artwork in it is sorta' neat.
