This is a horrible time of the year to report this, but one of my favorite planets has tragically come to an end.

I think a moment of silence is in order.

I see no water beyond the 'planet'. Photograph was taken with a glass of water (full to the brim) in front of the camera ;)

Tis a fake.

You live on the West coast I see, you just need to get out a bit earlier and you might catch it a little higher up.

Thanks all for the kind words and wit.

John I smiled as soon as I saw your "clouded in, eh?"...you're exactly right...had to do something.

Ken, it's amazing at how your figured out so quickly how I did it.... and yes, it was faked.

AuroraSeeker....who said "adding diffraction spikes" is bad?...shoot 'em.

thanks again,

bud

Shouldn't the stars reflect in the water too? It looks unnatural!

LOL...I was just having fun with your image. I couldn't find a similar reflection plugin or technique, or I would have also put in the star reflections. :)

Gary

Actually, this kinda makes me think more of the view from a melted ice-moon of Saturn, maybe ages from now when the sun warms up and expands into a red giant. I'd think one could get views something like this one.

Nice picture!

:jump: I really dig the first version submitted. "Very cool". A real keeper.

Makes me want to dive into my Paint Shop Pro program and see what I can come up with.
