Hi Tom!

Thanks for the first look and up front review. I like the ergonomics and color codes.

Probably hard to tell with using a TV85 but did you see any CA issues with the eyepieces? Any kidney bean?

Thanks again!

Hi Preston,

Thank you for your post.

As I noted there were some problems with blackout, but mainly during the day (for reasons noted). I did not note SA of the exit pupil, specifically. Individual CA issues(both on and off axis) are detailed under the notes for each focal length. The color correction of the TV 85 is quite good. Any residual color it contributes is very minor.

Overall, I'd consideer any CA in these eyepieces (if present) to be very, very minor.

Nice straight forward review Tom. Looks like a lot of bang for $80.

Hi Tom, nice reveiw, I had the 15&25 here last week but because of my right eye's astigmatism and not having enough ER when I wear my glasses to correct for it I did return them but I found them having a good comfort feel so I'll be getting the 8&5mm were my eye's astigmatism does not have an effect. I use the 17mm Hyperion which has greater ER so I can use my glasses and the Swan 33 and the 22Pan I use the dioptrix to correct the nasties. Its a shame in the past few years my eye's are not getting any better so finding longer FL EP's is becoming more of a problem but below 13mm seem to be the sweet spot cause I have zero problem with the Nagler 13T6. They seem like a solid product for $80 and have a better overall biult to them than the TMB Planetaries that I have as well. Have you compared the shorter FL to the TMB planetaries at all? I also find that the FOV seems wider than the TMB's and field stop is very nice without any glare problems. I also found that the 25 is far from flat and that was on the C8 at F10. All my scopes are F6.9 or better and I might add another 10" F5 dob to the mix this spring(kinda want to see whats going to come this year for NEAF). Always enjoy your reveiws, great stuff!

Nice report Tom, thanks.

Do you happen to have any specs on the housing width? I'm curious if they would be usable in a binoviewer. I looked on the Astronomics site but did not see any dimensions given. Thanks.

Hi Kerry,

I'm getting 48-49mm in diameter at the widest point for all of them.

Hi T,

Thanks for the measurements on those, that helps. From the pics they looked darned near as large as Hyperions, but clearly they are smaller. Appreciate it!

Hi Tom,
Liked your report on the Paradigm Eyepieces. Can you help me out? I have a binoscope f/5.3 100mm with a focal length of 530mm. It came with a 23&13mm eyepieces and I want to go to this new 8mm eyepiece which would yeald 66x. What do you think? Can I do it with these new eyepieces?
Thanks.
David

Hi Tom, nice review as always.
I am considering a pair of "middle ground" EPs for my Denks and the AT 18s would fit my focal length window. I'm curious as to how large the eyecups are (I have already rejected getting a second Hyperion 17 as they just pinch the bridge of my nose). How would you compare the size of the eyecup to a hyperion or a TMB planetary? Those are the only EPs I have tried besides Plossls which fit my eyes fine...though I would like a wider and better corrected field. I'm also curios about the 19mm Edge-on(and clones), but I don't know anyone who has used them to binoview.
Thanks!
Ken
