It's nice to have some excellent observing programs to help us with our nightly (or in my case, monthly) observing sessions.

John (or others who have the std edition), could you give any more details? I don't use go-to or astrophotography so I don't think I need the pro version. But I found it hard to separate the features between the pro and standard when I went to the website so I'm not sure what all is included with the std.
The standard doesn't have any features for telescope control or anything to do with astrophotography. It's just got 4 tabs: Nightly Planner, Current Events, Special Events, and Ephemerides. It's really Night Planner that's the main tab from which to create charts and do logging.
You can set up telescopes with view orientation, finder and eyepieces. When you want to view a chart, you can select the telescope and it displays all the views you need. You can play around with the FOV for your eyepiece and finder by zooming in or out, and print it when you get what you want.

Correct, but I believe you can still unlock RealTime for it for a small fee and control scopes to your heart's content.

The eyepiece view approximations it gives are excellent.
You can also define your local horizon, if that's of any interest.

I've got an LXD75 SN10.
Clear aperture: 254 mm (10")
F ratio: f/4
Focal length: 1016mm
It is also in the list in ST3, although mispelled as LDX-55 10 instead of LXD.
'nother helpful site:
And "Cats & Casses" would be your forum here, I believe.

a quick question, does the standard edition have all the major visual comets to download or is that something for the pro edition??
Quick answer: Yes, comets down to 15th magnitude. See Comets.
Pro has a database power search tab for comets(that I didn't even know was there). Both versions have the comet database that is updatable via the web. It accesses the same comet data that all of the programs use.
I don't know about comets fainter than 15th but you can ask in the Yahoo group for Skytools.
