Can anyone recommend a good visual observing guide/book to the Sun? Something that includes methods of viewing, types of filters to use, explanation of sunspots, physics of the Sun etc?

Thanks

Try Solar Observing Techniques by C.R. Kitchin. It gives a pretty good overview of equipment and observing methods. Try to find a used copy for around $14. I'm not sure I'd pay full price for it, but consider it a keeper on my bookshelf.

I just picked this up, but haven't had time to read it yet. It does look promising as a basic guide for those of us just getting started in solar observing. Sun Observer's Guide by Pam Spence

Thanks for that reference, Tom. I don't currently own any books on solar observation and I just now found a brand new copy of that book online for $3. Can't beat that.
