I think the only downside to this type of chair is if you accidently lift the seat front a bit while shifting around they have been known to "drop" (i.e. the seat falls) as it works on a cantilever design.

True, you do have to be somewhat careful when shifting around on the seat... and at my size, I'm always very careful when shifting on the seat or even sitting down. :-) I have no reason to doubt its stability, but I'm not going to take a gamble and just plop down into it like a La-Z-Boy. :-)
