Excellent review! Almost had me thinking about trading my TV85 for the TV76 ... but probably not.
Also, very well written - I'll be looking for the book when it comes out.

Thank you for a first class review of a first class product .
As a fellow owner I know the TV 76 truly is a remarkable giant in the world of small scopes .
Now if only I could afford a Nagler or Ethos e.p to complement my two humble TV Plossls and single Radian !

Thank you for the review Neil. I enjoyed reading it. I have the TV60 and love it for it's tiny size and amazing abilities. I would like to try out the 76 or 85 one day.

Hi Folks,
Thank you all very much for your encouraging comments.
Andy, I have thought long and hard (drooled really) about getting a TV 60; it's got to be the sexiest little refractor in the world!
Neil.

Excellent article - really well written. I too can vouch for the abilities of the TV60. You wouldn't think a 60mm refractor and an Ultrablock filter would go together, but this arrangement (with a 24mm Panoptic) gave me my best ever views of the Rosette and North American Nebulae, as well as fitting both arcs of the Veil Nebula into one field of view.
And it makes a great photographic lens too:

Sure, scopes like the TV76 and the TV60 are expensive compared to other refractors, but they make an interesting alternative to a Canon L-Series Prime.

Hi Mark,
Thanks for your comments and for the link. The TV 60 sure is a first rate imaging system based on those excellent photos.
Neil.

Great review. As an owner of a TV-85 and a 70mm Pronto I agree that Televue scopes are special. They always provide crisp, clean views and put a smile on my face. At public star parties I often hear comments like "I can't believe this little telescope provides sharper views than the big ones!".

Finally, I got round to reading this. Excellent review of a super-portable and high-performance TeleVue. Maybe one day I'll revert to TV ownership, having cast away my ED80 type scope...

One of our club members has a TV 76. The first time I looked through it I had an Orion ST120. I was shocked how good the views were through the TV76. I may own one of those scopes one day. They are amazing.

Great little scope. The image quality surprised the heck out of me. I actually prefer it to my TV102. It gives the FS78 a run for its money too.

Got one...LOVE IT! The views of course are smaller than my 14.5 Nightsky Scope...but the clarity and sharpness completely blow my Dob away! My perfect public starparty scope. Matched with a 13mm Ethos...the Moon is simply AMAZING!
