Hi Ivo,
Just started using your APT and it looks really good! However, I ran into a problem trying to stop the focusing plan. I was test focusing in the daytime so I had short exposures selected (0.05 sec). Whenever I hit the stop button it had no effect and the plan continued to run until all the exposures were taken. Any idea why the stop button was not working? Thanks...John
Posted 16 January 2018 - 07:55 AM
Hi John,
Thank you for your kind words! I suppose that there is no pause between the focusing images, right? APT disables the Stop button during the image download, so with short exposure and no pause it will be hard to click in the right time. You can set small pause. However I would suggest you to use the LiveView option. It will give the same look and feel
Posted 16 January 2018 - 05:19 PM
Aha! That makes sense. I did not realize live view will work with my CCD camera. I thought it was only for a video stream type of camera. Many thanks! I will try that out for sure.
By the way, I have never used a program that connected as easily and smoothly to my camera, my filter wheel, and my mount as your APT. Your user interfaces are really really well done!
And the APT intermittent dither capability is wonderful! One other question, when you choose a dither amount number (I chose 5) is that the number of pixels it will move? And does the dither go randomly or is it in a circle or some other shape?
Kind regards...John Miele
Posted 17 January 2018 - 03:49 AM
Many thanks!
The dither amount is not exactly in pixels. I think that PHD defines it as parts of the guiding steps determined during the calibration and definitely are related to the guide scope. The move is random, no defined shape...

Hi Ivo,
Just tried the live view feature and it works great. In fact, I like your program so much, I went ahead and purchased a key. I am switching from Nebulosity 4 to your program for all my unguided imaging and possibly all my imaging after I get more used to it. Thanks!
John

Hi John,
Thank you very much for your support for APT!

Here is the first update for 2018! Since the APT 3.50 many problems were fixed, so we decided to release the fixes in a version. It comes with some new features too. Let mention two of them – the possibility to change the position of the Status Panel (vertical or horizontal) and the possibility to check the CCD temperature on plan start and never image with warm camera again
The complete list of the changes is available here:

We got a report for problem with connecting to SkyWatcher mount from APT 3.51. The issue is fixed and confirmed. If you have similar problem please download APT 3.52.
Please excuse us for the inconvenience!

If you are using AstroTortilla with a Nikon camera, or if you are importing coordinates from Stellarium, please get the update APT 3.53 which fixes two problems in these areas.
In case you are not using these features, there is no need to apply this fix.
Again apologies for the inconvenience!

Hello,
This month APT turned 9th years, so this can be considered as Birthday Edition Thank you for the great journey together!
The main feature in this release is named Ringy Thingy – a unique way to edit numeric data in the dark, using only mouse or touch pad. It makes possible a whole imaging session without touching the keyboard!
Of course, there are bunch of other additions – new Canon models support, requested features, tweaks inspired by real life usage all over the world. The list is completed by some bug fixes…

Many apologies for the inconvenience!

If you are using dithering and PHD2, please upgrade to APT 3.63 in order to avoid the possibility for imaging hanging in case of temporary guide star loss! The update is needed even if you are using 3.57…
We are using the release to include some improvement and fixes in AMF (Automated Median Flip), DARV fix for Nikon cameras and also the “automatic settings restore after crash” feature we just finished.
The Moon will soon start getting smaller so update your APT and be ready for the next imaging session!
