Bless you Alex for posting that pdf. That is a wonderful guide. I do not own an 8SE (yet) but you've solidly sold me on it's capabilities and qualities. I was just in this forum taking a look around as to the merits of this scope, and you've really done it justice with your document. Now I'm chomping at the bit even more to buy one of these scopes. Thanks again.

Very inspirational!
I just picked up my 8SE today and will follow this guide to delve into the world of AP
I was planning to pick up a dedicated AP set up in late June (still deciding which!) and using this post will get me more familiar with how it all works from start to finish and how it all comes together to produce the final image.

I added M81 and M82 notes in this updated version: Astro Photography with Celestron 8SE and DSLR-1.2.pdf We will work with bullrees to provide a sample package of light, dark, and flat frames. Thanks everyone.

My weather is a complete disaster. As soon as it improves I will take on M57 that Ron posted in another thread. I did not realize how beautiful it is through an 8SE.

Our torrents appear to be working. M82 sample is out there. I will put M57 data on torrent as well.
