Canon has a sale on a number of optical products including what appears to be their entire line of IS binocs from the 8x25 to 18x50. Just an FYI as I haven't seen it posted here yet. Still too pricey for me but this might make someone happy.

John, the $939 price after $100 rebate would only be available with Canon USA warranty card and not grey market binos . I will wait and see what Adorama's price is once they are in stock .

John, I just purchased the new Pentax 10x50 PCF WP II's from Adorama for $119.95 and they are grey market but since there are no rebates on Pentax USA binoculars they were a great buy. I am sure Adorama will lower the price on the 10x42's to match the other dealers once they are in stock.

John, I see Focus now shows a price of $1,599.95 before the $100 Canon rebate. DigitalFotoClub also has about the same price.

I just received the Canon 8x25 IS binoculars today and even at 8x the IS shows more fine detail than handheld 8x binoculars IMHO. I wanted the little 16 oz 8x model when I wanted no more than one pound hanging from my neck and with the rebate the price was only $181 with shipping. Not bad for a Canon IS binocular made in Japan. :)

I just compared the Canon 8x25 IS to my Pentax DCF 8x42 WP and they looked just as bright and sharp with the same contrast but I could see more detail with the IS on. I also compared them to a cheap $50 pair of chinese waterproof 8x25 roofs and they were junk compared to the Canon 8x25 IS's in all departments.

Alot of people say why would you want an 8x IS binocular and I say if you can handhold an 8x binocular like it's on a mount then you don't need it. But when I hit the IS button it becomes a virtual mounted 8x binocular. And I bet you will not see better optics for under $200.
