Yeah that's what I thought. I actually got it cheaper than that. You should see the massive mount on this thing. It can easily hold a few hundred pounds. Anyone converted this mount to the latest GPS systems? The CompuStar has the Y2K problem and I would rather the latest and greatest technology with the well built old school mount.

I would think something like a Sitech goto kit could be adapted without too much trouble.

I found an 80mm f/15 in a wood case near Bend Oregon. I'm not the seller but I'd like to know what it is.

I would say a Cave Optical Co. 10-inch F/7 Newtonian. That is obviously their 1.5-inch shaft mounting with motor drive and setting circles. Surprisingly, the main fiberglass optical tube assembly is held on by straps rather than a machined rotating ring system.

The viewfinder appears to be a Unitron 10x40mm. To my knowledge, Cave only placed these on their larger 10-inch reflectors. However, Cave's standard 8x50mm viewfinder could have been replaced by a better Unitron model.

Regardless, for a low $150 asking price someone will get a wonderful $1,000 telescope. Does the seller also have any Cave Orthostar eyepieces?

The owner claims its a 10". not sure of the vintage, but Panama City is a little too far for me. It needs some love from the pics.

I emailed the seller of the 80mm above in Redmond. It's a Sears. I prefer the mount of the 10TE and have what I believe is the same mount used for the Sears that came with my Orion 60mm f/15 Sky Explorer.

My new approach to flooding this thread is to let listings I find "mature" for a week before posting them to allow locals to have scooped them up. If they're still around, they're fair game. I'll date the ads.
