One woman in our astro club usea a bean bag chair for bino observing. She can lay back on the bean bag and have her head supported. I think it as a neat way to do bino observing.

this also got cut out of the binocular mirror mount thread by default because it was threaded to the binoviewer series.

A bean bag? That's a great idea. It eliminates the need to flumble around in the dark to fold or unfold a beach chair or what have you. You just plop down and go.

Of course, if you're driving to a dark sky site, a beanbag is not nearly as compact as a folding chair. My car is generally pretty full. I don't think there is any way I could squeeze a beanbag chair in.
