Hello all.

I recently aquired a zeiss microscope (some pictures attached), and I have been having trouble finding out info about this particular scope. Given the great info I usually get in response to astro questions, I thought I would try posting a micro question.

It is a Carl Ziess Jena (can't make out the numbers), and the eye piece pairs that came with it are (all CZJ) 6x, 8x, 12x and 18x. The "paired objectives" (?) are sizes 2, 4, 8 and 12. I bought it mainly to use (not as a collector's item), but I am curious of its pedigree. Any info you could provide about it would be great.

Thanks all.

The last set of eyepieces suggests it is an old stereoscope. There is not much history of these types of optics. It looks like this is a basic classroom/student scope. Usually, an identifying label come in the box.

Thanks Stevie - much appreciated :)

Now if only I could read German (I assume). So it is a dissecting-type scope - that explains the arm rests.

I am curious if it has much value. Either way, it is a neat piece of history, and something the kids and I will use lots.

Cheers
