Anybody use the mysky for anything after the novelty wore off? Has it been a total failure for Meade and a possible reputation killer? For the record I would still use mine with the grandkids if the etx still worked (working on getting the az working again). They liked to point the mysky and slew the telescope to the object with it. Of course the mysky has some problems being accurate.

I think people would have continued using the thing if it had been reliable and accurate. I use my three-year-old SkyScout fairly often to identify stars at dusk, with my college astronomy students, etc.

Alas, Meade's unit was neither reliable nor accurate (some _were_ better than others).

FAIL? I'd say so...since I heard of one person who stood the MySky up on its handle, and, when it fell over on its side it was basically damaged beyond repair. And I think very few of the little switches lasted long. Unfortunately, this unit was released when Meade was having a lot of problems, and they cut plenty of corners.

I was one that had the mysky fall over and destroy the power switch. Meade gave me a trade in (for a fee) but the replacement was never as accurate as the original and it has been mostly gathering dust. Good idea with very poor implementation.
