Hello
I'm back again with Philippe Tosi, Elie Rousset at the Pic du Midi Observatory in order to observe jupiter close to the opposition.

A first image of Jupiter with a seeing far to be perfect. We have tried a Basler Scout camera with the ICX285 inside. It's quite interesting for this telescope.

We have done the CH4 layer with a C14 close to the 1 meter (we have only 5 positions in the filter wheel : R, G, B, IR and UV, so if we want CH4 on the 1 meter telescope we have to change one of the other usefull filters, ...quite an hard choice. :

90 exposures 1s long at f/10 with a Basler 640

With the bad weather at the start of the mission, I've found enought time to process a M76 picture that was waiting for me since 1 year :)

.....well Jean Luc, this last image could hardly be fair to be called an "AA image" when you're using the Pic du Midi scope, but it darn near takes the cake as the best Jovian image I've been privileged to view: a perfect case of where a small amount of grain really does cap the image off perfectly by enhancing the appearance - what can I say but again, "magnifique....!" :waytogo: :waytogo: :waytogo: :waytogo: :waytogo: :waytogo: :waytogo:

Wow, they are really great images!!! Would you mind if I use these images (with mentioning credits of course!) to compare with some C11 images?

Thats a wonderful Jupiter image Jean-Luc! The range of details is incredible, someday we would like to see an animation from this great instrument! The Aristarchus image is really good!

Cheers,
Glenn

Thanks a lot! Just to show I put the comparison here. It's a comparison made with my C11 with your great picture of Pic du Midi. It nicely shows the commonalities and also the detail you gain with a 1m telescope. Still I'm astonished what a 30cm can already obtain compared to such a great instrument as Pic du Midi....
