Several members of the New Hampshire Astronomical Society volunteered to have a sidewalk astronomy event during first night in Portsmouth NH. We were right in Market Square in the middle of all the action. At first we were on the sidewalk, but the city organizer asked us to move to a street they were shutting down which actually worked out better as we had much more room for our canopy and table and the half dozen or so scopes we had set up.
Most of us were there by 3 in the afternoon and didn't pack up until after midnight when the city wanted to open the street back up. So we were on our feet for hours but had a great time showing Jupiter and Luna to the public. It was a great success and the city asked us to come back next year and do it again.

That's a great thing to do, and a real community spirit.
Congatulations on your success!
