I agree it would be very helpful if AS2 could save the largest subset of frames as a separate file. So if you picked 1000, 2000, 3000 frame stacks it could just save the 3000 best along with a text file that describes the content (original file name and selection criteria). Oh and I'd still like a 'project file' capability that saves all settings. Essential for knowledge sharing among other things. Sending around screenshots with the settings is a bit archaic.

It's actually pretty easy to use PIPP for this type of preprocessing and AS2 and PIPP seem to agree generally on quality.

I can't replicate it, I can move the recordings around just fine. Just make sure they are in planetary mode, and hold the shift key, and then drag the planet around.

Emil, I downloaded the 2.6.6 version and installed it on my tower PC, when I opened up the video file I copied from my laptop I was able to drag the frame around just fine using my mouse.  I then moved my mouse to the laptop and was able to move the frame around there as well so it must be something in the touchpad that is causing the problem.  No worries, I have another mouse so it shouldn't be an issue going forward.

Other than that I have to say so far I am enjoying the increased speed in the new version.  Thanks for all the hard work, it is appreciated by all!

I'm really curious about the drizzle improvements. I typically have issues with "artifacting" on 3x drizzle. Typically this manifests in 3x3 blocks with dark bands oriented on the edges of the blocks. I've had it suggested to me to run 1.5x to cut down on these issues. But from what I understand, this is just resampling the 3x data and can still show some banding.

Emil, would you elaborate on the proper use of drizzle and what seems to work best in your application?

In conclusion, I am also beyond grateful for your contributions to the hobby!

Thanks for this info. It solved a puzzle that I've had for a long time

Hi and thanks so much for AS!2. Its amazing. Is there a way to select a frame in AS!2 in which to place the green anchor-point? When I go to a sharp frame and Ctrl-click the green anchor point on a bright spot, it resets back to the first frame, which is a very poor frame. I've tried the "limit frames" option over beside the Open button and inputted a frame number in the Min Frame # checkbox, but that doesn't help.

Could you show some screenshots? I'm curious what type of recording you are trying process here, usually even with a poor quality first frame it will still work.

Limit should work to get rid of the first frame though, you probably have to re-open the recording after activating limit, maybe you forgot that?

OK Emil, you can't change your avatar like that and not have a link to at least a beta on your page!

Hello;

I'm debuting my ASI120MC for planetary astrophotography and I've been using Autostakkert2 for some time now.
I want to get the best result with Jupiter and I would like to know how to get the best of Autostakkert2 with eswte planet.
So far I have used these parameters that can be seen in the attached capture.
I point in red where I have some doubts with the parameters to take.
Quality Estimator;
I usually put it in (3) and I do not know if it is the most appropriate as I have seen in some tutorials that put it in the (4) What depends on putting 3 or 4?
Local (AP) - Gloval (Frame) What to select and why?

Reference frame;
Normally I put it as it looks in the image, in car, but I know that you can put as reference frame a stack of a number of frams.
Which would be better and why?
Graph;
What to look for to know the% of frams to use in the stack? In the green line?
Place AP grid;
I usually put them as seen in the image. How would it be most appropriate for jupiter? Is it better to put them manually or in car?
I hope help.

Regards;

Use 4 for Noise robust. Use local instead of global. Use Auto size for reference frame. Try a range of % frames to stack. You can enter 5 numbers in the Frame percentage to stack section. Try using different AP sizes until the Place AP grid button gives you between 10 and 20 APs. It won't work with 180 APs like you have shown.

Hello;
My English is not my forte and that's why I do not understand what it says (You can enter 5 numbers in the Frame percentage to stack section).
What I understand is that you do not have to put many points as they appear in the image if not many less.
I could put an image to understand it better because seeing an image would be less misleading because when translating with google many words change and you become one a lio.

Greetings and thanks.

There are different strategies / opinions / ideas for how to choose the % of frames to stack. None of them are perfect so it is best just to try many different numbers. AutoStakkert will allow you to enter 5 numbers. You might try 10 20 40 60 and 80% and AutoStakkert will do all 5 at one time. Then you decide which is the best after you process them. In your picture you have 50 0 0 0 0 where you could enter 10 20 40 60 80.

For align points I find that around 10 to 20 is enough.

Hello;
Thanks for such a prompt help.
I have bundled with that of choosing the% with the 5 as I only see that you can do 4 different processed example. 20.30, 40.60. I think you can only put 4, not?
When you mean the 10 to 20 alignment points do you mean the red dots on the planet or is it something else?

Thank you

Hello;

Today I will try to get some decent video because the forecasts are good.
I leave you this photo of a few days ago that I hope to improve today if there is luck.
