Just learned now the Icon has past away. Sad Day. Not sure where to post this so If an Admin will help and put in the right spot I will be very happy. Thanks for all,,,,,,,

The nights flew by so fast, darkness at last, my love has shown her neckless of diamonds to taunt me night after night. The stars so far from me yet so close. Night after night the the lens of my Edmund Scientific 6" reflector. The demon I hunted was the center star of the Ring Nebula always just out of my grasp. Orion my fellow hunter the jewel of his belt always there and so bright. The glow of the star belts in Cygnus at the zenith filled with stars through my lenses. A young man of 15 soon to be 16 wishing for that special moment, to see the alien ship wizz by my lens. As a member of the Lehigh Valley Amature Astronomical Society had access to the 6" refractor on South Moutain Observatory and the planatary views were wow moments. Pulpit Rock observatory was a magical place of super scopes I wish I had but the use of by far made up for the longing to have. The night of March 1, 1973 late and the night dark almost perfect seeing from my backyard. Just messing around as usual looking through the lens and hand guiding the scope around the wonders above. Then there it was, it did not belong. A smear of light I had not seen before but could not quite make out like galaxy just out of focus. oh well to the books, the maps, the charts, nope not there. Called my auntie Jean and said i seen something in the sky that I could not find out what it was. Bah she said just ask the guys at the Society what it is, I'm sure they know. Ok maybe someone will be there this weekend and I will find out then. My luck no one there and no one to ask. hard to find again but after a few passes yup there again but not at the same spot then it hit me a comet but which one and not aware of any from the astronomy club. then the weekend of the 17 th found out there was a new comet called Kohoutek the next Haley's comet. Well it sounds better than Comet Cope anyways. But I know I was the one to see it first.
