Hi Brian,

Fantastic scope. I once shared your sense of dread when I received a Zeiss telescope and noticed that the box lid was loose. It slammed on a lot parts and cracked the box. I was able to fix most of the damage, but was very upset. The telescope was very old and worn, but was completely original and undamaged when I purchased it. The telescope came from Argentina. My guess is that customs opened it up and did not properly secure the lid when they repacked it.

I am happy the box was a quick fix and I`m sure you'll restore the tube with your normal skill.

Dan

Beautiful telescope Brian,

As are the eyepieces displayed in your other thread. I have the 3" Goto "fast optics" model at just f/16. The case is 50" with the handles on the ends, I think my longest case and pretty heavy as well with the top and bottom being made of 1/2" X 9" lumber. It is a stretch to carry it. Yours must be a stretch plus 3"!

Anyway, nice scope!

Keith, does your 3" have spacers between crown and flint
...mine does not and dont know if it should.
first light this morning on jupiter and at higher powers
its just a little off....thinking collimation and alignment.
and maybe spacers if they are supposed to be there.

Not to be picky but that is a "Box Joint" not a dovetail, nice looking kit though!

My 3" scope does have spacers as well as my 60mm X 900 Hyscore 451. There was a model 452 which recently sold on eBay. MacScope bought it. It did not have foil spacers. I was leery about that but have since heard that Goto lenses aren't always separated with foil or rings.

Oh STEVE!!!! STEVE MILLER WHERE ART THOU?
