Can one use the EasyTester I Ronchi Testing eyepiece to test the optics of a SCT? I have a 12" LX200 and want to test for excessive aberration. Has anyone had experience with this quaint little device on a SCT?

Hi, I purchased a 300 LPI Ronchi ruling from Edmund Optics and have used it for testing various telescopes. Yes, the EasyTester will work for SCTs as well. You will need some time and patience to interpret the deviations of the lines.

Kevin,
I've done this with a 150-line Ronchi grating on my old 8" SCT that I owned for 11 years. The lines were dead straight, and there were no edge problems.
Here's a sight that will allow you to interpret what you see:
Ronchi interpretation.
