Commonly known as Tanzutsu, although the diamond Z company reportedly has a different name. They were the "last ditch" of Japanese optics mass production export goods

Not in my experience, but I do think there have been reports of decent optics in some of them.

They also made 60mm diameter/900mm f/l scopes under the Jason Discoverer Model #313 label, and the one I have is not bad optically.

My tasco 14f is a Tanzutsu from 1985. It's got nice optics.

I have a couple of diamond Z scopes both Tasco's and in my opinion they are ok, not great but acceptable.
