Here is my C90 riding on my Parallax Instruments HD200C. While the scope is a tad over mounted, it is extremely stable -- even in high winds!

I just got my Losmandy dovetail in the mail so I was to test fit and get everything balanced. Now I'm just hoping for some clear skies.

I don't think you could ever over mount a telescope. Now if you ever decide to upgrade to something like a 5-inch SCT, you're ready.

Finally got first light on mine in the new observatory--camera working, permanently polar aligned, mirrors spaced to spec, collimated, and placed on the pier. Image I posted a few weeks ago was before I had the camera mounted, etc.

PlaneWave CDK 12.5" on an AP-900 with an SBIG STXL-6303 camera and filter wheel in a 10' ProDome observatory.

jared, that is one fantastic setup. I cant imagine what the cost was for a setup like that, but what the heck! if its your hobby and it gives one a great deal of satisfaction, why not. good luck and happy sailing across the universe. donnie3

nice area to observe. I have a similar setup, small privacy fence, concrete patio but the only difference is, in the winter we have snow and in Florida you don't have to worry about that, LUCKY!!!!! hate winter!

Kelly, I see from your signature line that you also have a Meade 16 on an AP-1200. Just curious, why two permanent scopes?

Thanks, Donnie, I think it will be well worth it to me. Frankly, the land was the biggest expense, not the equipment.

Nice observing location Jim. With that and a fine mount you should have gone 1100.

Yup! The observatory is finally taking shape. I just need to finish the solar installation (already got the panels up) and I will be good to go. You can see a thread on the construction process here on the "observatories" forum.

First light was on the 27th of January (just using battery power). About another four weeks to go and I should have the whole thing complete. A cottage for sleeping over (canvas over a wood frame--nothing too fancy), solar panels to supply power for everything, a warm room/power shed for the batteries, inverter, computer, etc., a 10' diameter ProDome made out of fiberglass, and the scope, of course.
