On Ebay, for 6 days. It looks beautiful and all of it's there.

Wonder what it will go for?

Pardon my newbie question, but how does this scope stack up with Orion's and Celestron's 8" F/4.9 or Vixen R200ss?

Tough question. You would be hard pressed to find someone with that kind of experience.

Sold originally for about $700. in 1974.

He's including the rotating rings and the 80mm rings.

May be worth it. :) Although the reserve has not yet been met. He may have his reserve too high. Once it hits about 900, I would reconcider. Too much at that point.

Be advised that, if this item comes up for sale again, it may be part of a scam.
I was not the winning bidder, but I received an email from the seller stating that the person who WAS the high bidder had not followed up with payment and that I was being offered an "eBay Second Chance" to acquire the scope at my last bid price.
Also included was a form that appeared to be from eBay, requesting personal and account information and requiring payment through Western Union only! I responded that I would not use WU and would only consider PayPal (for which I was already set up in eBay).
By this time I was more than a bit suspicious (and sorry that I had responded at all), so I sent a copy of the document to eBay. They informed me that it was NOT an eBay form and that they had NOT authorized any "Second Chance" etc.
Moments later I received ANOTHER email, purporting to be from PayPal, informing me that someone had made an "unauthorized attempt" to access my account and that I needed to re-verify my account information by responding immediately to the email. This, too, was a spoof (confirmed by PayPal)-"phishing" for information that truly would have allowed someone to access the account.
Coincidence? I think not.
Subsequent emails to the seller have gone unanswered.
Did the seller have his listing "hijacked" by a scam artist...or was the whole thing a scam from the start?
Enquiring minds want to know!
Whatever - lets' be careful out there.....

Well, for those of you who care, there is now a 10" Cave scope in California (pickup only) being offered on ebay. Got 4 days yet to run. Just look up "cave, telescope"- its the only one listed. Right now the bid is whopping $202.50. Dunno if its authentic- neither does seller.

Look at the comments on the bottom of that page. Not a Cave telescope. Nor is it a 10 inch one either!
