Could someone recommend a brand of H-Alpha Solar Filter to connect to my Nexstar 8i. I have researched but do not know what is good. What hardward besides the filter would one purchase to view the sun?
Regards,
John White

John,

I recommend you contact manufacturers like Coronado and ask them directly what is compatible for that scope. With that kind of focal length and if you've got the money, you would be looking at some pretty heavy duty dollars. The Coronado system to me is a great system, but the Blocking Filter/diagonal is determined by the focal length of the scope.

Not sure why you didn't want to keep this in the Solar forum. You may get more responses there.

The prefilter for the Coronado systems would be very expensive. It would be cheaper and probably better to get an inexpensive small refractor and piggyback it on the N8i.
