Farewell much loved FS102. Hello new-to-me TSA120. My mount looks right again. smile.gif

Brain,

it’s a beautiful scope and I hope you can get it out tonight. I plan on getting mine out for the plants. However I have to tell you it does very well on DSOs. M57 looks great  M13 shows individual stars,  alberio with the blue and gold; just magnificent! Enjoy the scope.

Thanks Gerald. It’s out now but I’m having some mount (user) issues. I think tonight will be a figure out the mount night with hopefully some viewing before I’m done.

Got my new Tak FC 100 DZ mounted on Scopetech Zero and Berlebach Report for travel/grab-and-go. I was worried the mount might not be up to it, but I was wrong. Great views of Mars at x200 with smooth (manual) tracking.

Jeremy, you have an outstanding grab and go setup there!  Isn't that mount great?  I'm so impressed with mine.

I wonder if anyone on here snagged that nice looking FS-102 that was listed on AM this morning?

Yeah, me too, which is silly, as I have one just like it.  But then I started thinking of Matt (Kunama) and the Tak binoscopes that he’s made. smile.gif

That’s beautiful, Brian.  Hmm...does anyone think I need a TSA-120 to fill the gap between my FS-102 and TEC 140?  Or am I just nuts? lol.gif

Go for it! While they are still made.

Ron, just look at this and maybe that will answer your question as to whether you really need one. grin.gif

After starting a thread a few days ago about which telescope to choose between a TS Optics 80mm f/7 FPL53 and a Takahashi FC-76DS, I decided to scratch my Takitis. So this beauty arrived today! I hope to have many good viewing sessions with it:

Showing off my new grab and go setup:  FOA-60Q, Scopetech Zero (with the Tak clamshell attached), Berlebach Report 212, Leica zoom, Tak TOE 4mm, etc., all nicely packed in one Pelican case.  I only have to carry my observing chair in my other hand, and I can go most anywhere.

Michael,

How many Berlebach Reports 212 do you have? I love the one I got from you. It's truly is a grab and go set up. I have a TV85 set up on it and it really is a one handed GG kit. Its so portable that it made me sad I sold my TAK Sky 90 to Charles Ryder.

Very sweet set up though. Its a little early but short of a solar filter youre ready for the 2024 Total Solar Eclipse.

They say the FOA-60Q is a good eclipse scope, I'll have to get that solar filter for 2024, and try to be in a place where I can see it well.

Right after I sold that first Report 212 to you I realized I needed one after all.  Not the first time I've done that.

I was using mine with a TV-85 also, and yes it is a truly one handed kit.  They seem to be a good match; go any smaller and lighter and you'd probably have to compromise something.

I’m curious. When I use the Tak Extender 1.6x (TKA36595) in my DL, I include the Tak 73mm, 2” extension tube before the diagonal so that I don’t have to rack the draw tube out more than 10mm. Does anyone know if the performance of the Extender is affected by how far it’s racked out? If I didn’t use the extension tube, I’d have to rack the Extender out an additional 73mm.

I just started thinking about this and it’s been cloudy so I haven’t had a chance to actually test the difference.

I’ll have to try that configuration and see if it works. I’m thinking I didn’t have enough in focus with either of my Baader diagonals when I put the extension tube in my Extender Q when I first got it for my DL. I do put them together for storage in a bolt case so the length is sufficient though.
