I am a Primaluce fan myself. They are light and I like red!
This is my newest Tak, the FC-100DZ. There is no cure for Takitis - all you can do is take your medicine and enjoy!

I love red rings my on Taks, and Prima Luce Labs or 2047Studio both make very nice ones.

I'm also on Team Red when it comes to the rings. I have the Primaluce rings on my BabyQ (looks great with the red stripe on the scope IMO), but I haven't pulled the trigger yet for my TSA 102. They're on the list though.

They are the More Blue rings - Tak has obviously taken them on as an official supplier. Interesting they’re branding them as Takahashi now. I have More Blue on my TSA-120 and Epsilon 130d and like them.
There is also another line of FC-100-compatible rings at First Light Optics which look very nice. Branded StellaLyra £169.
I have the Tak version on my FC-100DZ and love the matching silver and the machined look, as well as the light weight. As soon as I saw them on a friend’s FCT-65 I had to have them. They also allow use of dovetail bars on top to mount other accessories. I got two of the matching Vixen width dovetails so I can put one on the top and the bottom. The only thing I don’t like about the rings is the threaded hole spacing. I was planning to use four screws with a Losmandy D plate, but only the center line holes can be used. Two screws on the centerline is fine, I’m sure, but I’d feel more secure with four.

You can call me a peasant if you like, but I can't bring myself to use any coloured rings other than Tak colours. It would be to much for my OCD to cope with. My first FS128 in 2003 came with a Tak green clamshell. Then in 2015 my FC100DC came with a Tak green clamshell. In 2020 I bought a FC100DZ with matching Tak blue clamshell, and then in 2022 after buying a second-hand FS128 with black rings, I had no option but to paint them Tak green, or as near a match as I could find. I also have beige blood!

"but I can't bring myself to use any coloured rings other than Tak colours"
But Tak uses red (pretty much the same color as PLL) and silver on several scopes.

Those look like Parallax rings to me Mike.
I have a pair on my FC100-DL but I left mine black - there isn't any of the Tak blue or green on my scope - it has a black focuser and finder mount so the rings suit it well. More importantly, they do a great job of supporting the scope.
The original tube clamp also did a great job as well of course and I still have that. Just felt like a change

The PLL are a very good match with the FSQ and the TOA series. Also, the top of the rings allow you to put a dovetail.

The PLL are a very good match with a FSQ-106 and a FSQ-130…
Or the Baby-Q, TOAs...

You are right Jeff. That is the reason I have modified my post

I have been lucky to buy a pair of pre-used Px rings for a TOA-130. They do need a new coat of paint, and red Hammerite seems a choice I might make, TOAs being red and white and baby-blue OE colours.

I love the look of the red rings on the Baby-Q!
I will admit, though, that there is something about Takahashi's "operating room green/blue" that really appeals to me.

So, can the Takitis crowd talk me into — or out of — buying a TPL 25mm eyepiece for my FS-60CB + Extender Q?
I currently use a made-in-Japan Meade 26mm Super Plossl for low-magnification views of open clusters. But the stars just aren't as sharp as I feel they could be.
Would stepping up from that 25-year-old eyepiece to the modern TPL be a smooth move ... or a waste of money?

My much less expensive Vixen NPL 15mm works great with my Tak FS-60CB.

The Tak TPLs are the sharpest eyepieces I’ve used without question. That said, eyepiece differences are subtle for the most part. The waste of money part is very subjective, particularly for a low power eyepiece. If you like to know your scope is performing as well as sky conditions allow, go for it. If you’re on a budget and looking for the best bang for the buck, and don’t care too much about that last 1-2% of performance, there are better things to spend the money on.So, can the Takitis crowd talk me into — or out of — buying a TPL 25mm eyepiece for my FS-60CB + Extender Q?

Here are the red rings on my FS-100DF. I also like the red look. And they offer options for mounting additional equipment. I've mounted an additional finder on my FS-100DF.
I have black Parallax rings on my TSA 120 and to be honest; Silver, Black, Green or Red I really don't care, as long as they are wrapped around a Tak OTA with Tak's killer sharp Canon optics.

It was worth it for me. Another great option is a Panopticon 24.
Posted 21 April 2025 - 06:51 PM
Do you mean a 24 Panoptic? I use one all the time on my FS-60C for bird watching
Yeah, that must have been an autocomplete thing, and now it's too late to edit so it lives in infamy. D'oh!

I knew what you meant, so no worries!
I appreciate the reply that you and the others offered to me, too. I'll probably buy the 25mm TPL. If it turns out that it's not really much of an improvement over my Meade Super Plossl 24mm, then I can probably sell the TPL as a slightly used eyepiece for nearly as much as I pay for it.
