The gitzo G1340 mk 2 is a perfect fit. And thanks to the rubber tips om the legs damping time is around 3-4 seconds, the same as with the much beefier Polaris tripod.

The weather has been mind-numblingly bad, so no new news from me.  This person however reports success at 5 minutes and 200mm:  http://tavcso.hu/?o=...adventurer&n=en

I also must say, the Gitzo fits it perfectly. Total weight of this setup is around 20lb.

Hi!

Reviving an old thread here. I was wondering if this mount could handle an C80ED? Any opinions?

Marginal. I have had a Lomo 80/480 which is shorter than the C80ED but much heavier (almost 10lb) and it's marginal. I also tried an Stellarvue 80mm f7 SV80ED and it was also marginal. The weak point is the equatorial wedge.

It will work, but the periodic error is big enough that you'll need to guide, which means guide scope and guide camera, which adds even more weight.

Personally the best scope for this mount is a Tak FS 60, the Astro Tech 65, one of the smaller Borgs, or similar.
