I don't think that you will be disappointed with the C9.25 edge.  You made the right decision to downsize.  I also downsized from a 50 pound C14 to a 39 pound Meade f/10 12".  My lower back was also getting sore every time I had to carry it around.  It put up some fantastic views, but I wanted a scope that I would want to use more.

The 1100 is a beast. I made the same decision, more based on the usage that the scope wasn't getting. I sold it to a guy who has it permanently installed

in his own observatory. I'm glad its seeing lots of starlight.

I'm scope less at the moment and may bide my time, see what pops up to use on the FTX. I'm going use a pair of high end Kowa binoculars for while.

A 210 Mewlon looks interesting.

There will be other telescopes. You know how that goes.  ;)

I'm always miffed when someone continues a topic in a new thread without linking to it, so to avoid committing the same foul here's my new EdgeHD 9.25 setup. Thanks again for everyone's fabulous encouragement and input.

I miss the 11-incher's views.

I am 57 and work in IT networking since 1989 which is mostly desk job. I own the C11 EdgeHD and find it not much of an issue to move around. I have the Pacific soft case for transport. Compared to a CPC-C11, it is a piece of cake. I would recommend hiring a personal trainer with the goal of building up some core strength and the ability to lift modest objects. Learn how to lift with legs and not back.

I use my C11 EdgeHD mostly as an imaging setup on my AP900GTO, but I have used it on my DM6 in alt/az mode. I have an FTX on order that I will use with a Gitzo 5541LS. Mostly for my SV115T20 and SVR90T. It may occasionally hold my TEC 140 but I have the DM6 on Planet setup for the heavier scopes. I ordered the FTX so I could have a rig for grab and go that could handle my SV115T20. My version has the removable extension tube so I could fly with it as carry on. I figure I could carry the scope and a couple eyepieces and my wife could carry the FTX with Sky Commander and Gitzo 5541LS.  I sold my DM4 with 8 inch extension to a friend to fund my FTX purchase.
