I need assistance with installing the driver for NexImage 5mp on my Windows XP laptop. I need driver for windows xp media center for the neximage 5mp. And if you can give me step by step instructions on how to install it. I followed the instructions that came with it and tried to install the driver from the CD but I get the following error message:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\IAT_YUV.ax
unable to register the DLL/OCX regsvr32 failed with exit code 0x3

I have also tried installing it while in safe mode

The laptop I am using meets all requirements.

I also tried to install the iCap software from the CD and get the same error.

Are you installing the driver using the CD that came with the NexImage 5 webcam? Does your laptop have the AMD chip?

If you download the latest iCap from Celestron's web site you won't get the drivers you need. I told them about this so they could update their download stuff but they didn't bother. Instead they just sent me the driver (which I already had).

I am installing the driver from the CD. I have an INTEL CHIPSET.. I have no idea what else to do. I can't do a windows update because Microsoft does not support XP any longer.

You might try deleting the driver and trying to install it again.

Open the Device Manager: Control Panel - System - Hardware tab - Device Manager

When I plug the camera into the computer I get an entry under Imaging devices (Celestron NexImage 5). Right click on that for options.

You can download my iCap setup file which worked for me. The link should be good for 7 days.

From the instructions it looks like you are supposed to run the setup before you plug the camera into the computer.

What do you see in the Device Manager?

I was able to install the iCap software from that site and I deleted and reinstalled the driver but its just not working. The Operating system I have is Windows XP Media Center do I need a special driver?

Click here to see what Microsoft has to say about your error. It says that error code 3 means path not found. The file C:\WINDOWS\system32\IAT_YUV.ax may not be there, or it needs other files that are missing. They say this might be due to not having sufficient Windows permissions. If this is your work computer you might ask your IT guys for help.

Another thing you could try is to contact Celestron technical support. I'm not seeing much response from Cloudy Nights here.

I already tried Celestron technical support and have not received reply yet. It has been 4 days. I had sent an email. I am an IT guy. I had tried installing the driver in safe mode but it still did not work. I thought I needed a driver specific to windows xp media center. That is why I was asking in this forum and contacted celestron. I could try installing just windows xp but it is a pain.

Just an update on this problem. The laptop I was using had a very old video card so nothing supports it any longer. I now have a fujitsu lifebook N3530 and it let me install the software and drivers needed. Now I need to wait for clear weather. Its always something.
