Hello everyone !

First post here. The name's Marko and I'm a Finn living in Helsinki. I do some backyard astronomy and also I'm into birdwatching, so binoculars are a subject of interest for me.

Time to book some flight tickets to Finland, everyone :)
Lidl Finland are offering the Bresser 10x50 next week.

Is this the same model you had in the UK previously ? (If the above link works, you can see a picture there. Don't worry about the strange language there, it's only Finnish).

I read some comments about the UK Lidl Bressers, and I think I'm going shopping equipped with a large bag next week !

I happened to sell my old pair of Helios 7x50 yesterday and I have been looking for a pair of 10x because I feel I need more magnification. So maybe this Bresser will do the job for me. I'm really looking forward to getting them.

Also, it will be interesting to compare them to a pair of high-end birding binoculars that I also have !

Yes, they are the ones.

I don't think they'll be as good as a high-end pair, but they are excellent for the money.

By the way - what is the currency in Finland? Are you using Euros?
24.90 Euros would be about £17 UK, or $29 US, still a bargain IMHO

£10 in UK (Well £9.99 to be precise)

I bought a pair in the summer (from the same place) which were almost identical except they were branded 'Meade', for £15

It seems that in some UK stores there are some of the Meade branded binoculars mixed in with the Bressers - I bought the second pair a few days ago (I got the Bressers this time) mainly as a spare pair, but I reckon the Bressers to be very slightly better than the meade I got earlier in the year (mainly for the tighter focusing - the Meade shifts a little too easily)

Lidl seem to be getting a batch of these every few months or so - maybe the next ones will be branded 'Bushnell' or something - LOL

I noticed that Lidl in Denmark are having the Bressers on the same day as over here in Finland, that's Thursday next week.

Got a pair of these Bresser 10x50's this morning at a local Lidl store here in Helsinki.

First impressions after some use in daylight:
- Overall construction seems OK for the price, maybe the centre focus felt a little "sticky" (-5 celcius outside).
- The coatings on the lenses look fine
- Image quite good, except for some internal reflections (we have snow on the ground here).
- Correct eyeplacement seems important in order to avoid blackouts. I need to have the twist-up eyecups fully twisted out. Eye relief is quite long.
- Close focus distance is a bit long for terrestrial use, but this wouldn't matter for stargazing.
- The cardboard box it was packed in had the texts translated into Finnish. Also the instruction leaflet was in Finnish, and was well translated, surprisingly enough.
- After initial setup of the dioptre adjustment, I can focus to all distances without having to adjust the dioptre again. But I had to turn the dioptre ring almost as far as it goes.
- All in all, worth the money, and I'm keeping it. (It would be possible to return it and have a refund).

€ 19.99 in Ireland. Bought a pair for my 9 year old son. (They were selling here the same day as in the UK ) He's in his element with them. Definately worth the money!
