Hi Tom,

A lot of nice compliments here...

I remember back in the day when I had only 2½ rattle cans of different colors to do mine!

Very different, ....very pro shine, looks great!

Clear Skies,

  Mike

If given the choice, I'd take the scope over a pink Cadillac.  Oh, yeah, and the ceramic dalmatian, Chuck.

Thanks all.  It was a really a rewarding experience.  Lot's of excitement with this one.  Stuck counter weights,  rust everywhere and lots of polishing polishing polishing.  We learned some new techniques and a lot of you helped guide me through a lot of difficult areas.  So thank you for the help and support!

I have the counter weight system to add yet and may put off wiring the byers gear motor till after NEAF.  I've got to get ready and stage everything for the trip to New York.

I will get some pictures when I apply the last parts including some good closeups of the final work.  Say tuned and again, thanks for the support on this one.  I could not have done it without you.  It is why we are here on CN.

It is finished.

Mirror is in (recoated at majestic)  and the tube counter weight is on.  I also picked up the last of the brass hardware. All is on now.   The brass detail are nice from the acorn nuts on the outside of the spyder to the adjustment thumb screws on the back mirror cell to the brass setting circles.  It's a telescope that is a bit confused whether it wants to be a classic old world scope or a new modern version with upgraded motor drive and flashy white and pink paint.  I think it came out well.

I collimated the scope and took a look at the raindrops on my far neighbors porch.  Yes of course it's raining!  The scope is finished.  I brought a few of my eyepieces up from the basement and they immediately fogged up.  I'm just gonna wait for another day.

Pictures will follow!  when the rain stops sometime this weekend.

Oh for goodness sake, you tease!  Take some pictures of the scope inside, we're on the edges of our seats!  God help you if we all come to your house to sit on the edges of your seats.

If you've got a picture of the "before" scope assembled it would be great to see both "before" and "after" photos in the same post.

It's dark and rainy for god's sake!   The inside of my garage would not do it justice!

I just posted the before's.  It was a pile of rusted heap on the floor.  Most work I've ever done on a telescope.

In good time, my friend, in good time.

Oh, I saw all of your posted "befores", I've been following your work since you started this project.  I was hoping that you had a "before" of the assembled scope/ mount.  I didn't know you bought a box full of parts hoping it would turn into a functioning scope with a little work.

Looks like all your work will pay off handsomely.  The "after" whole is definitely greater than the sum of the "before" parts.  Congratulations.

Yea it was just a pile of parts.  It was all there, but not together.  Actually all the parts were there.  Nothing was missing.  Surprising.
