Cloudy Nights has restarted the sitewide imaging/sketching contest. This is in addition to and different than the individual forum challenges as it encompasses all of the different methods for capturing images of the beauty of the night sky and the subject matter is one of your own choosing (within the contest rules).
Over the years, we’ve noticed we have some exceptional talent in our forums, so we started the contest to show it off. The contest was on hiatus for a while due to site changes and schedules but it is now up and running and we'd like to recognize your imaging efforts. Each month our readers will choose a winner in each of the forums listed above and an overall winner, and that overall winning image or sketch will be displayed on the front page of the Cloudy Nights website until a new winner is chosen.
How to enter:
Each forum in the Astrophotography and Sketching Forums (see below) section will have a "sticky" thread called "Imaging Contest Submissions". Please visit our forums and submit an image/sketch in the appropriate section by adding it to the sticky thread in that forum.
Images may be submitted to the contest threads in the following forums:
DSLR and Digital Camera Astro Imaging and Processing
CCD Imaging and Processing
Solar System Imaging and Processing
The contest is administered by WOBentley but any moderator can likely answer any questions. Moderators are listed by the forum name, and additionally they have a banner in their posts that says "Moderator" in green. Please contact WOBentley or any moderator from one of those forums if you have any questions.
Each month, images or sketches (as applicable to the forum) will be submitted in each forum for users to vote on. The winners from each forum's semi-final poll will be entered in a site wide poll for our users to determine which image or sketch is the best of the group.
Contest Rules are availabe in any of the above listed forums in the sticky thread.
If you are an imager or a sketcher please consider submitting an entry or two!
The contests are open now and the last submissions from earlier this year are open for voting to choose your favorite image HERE!
Why not stop by and vote for your favorite, there are some great images this month for your consideration.
Thanks, and we look forward to your entries!
