Here is a first integration of modified 7DII; a 9x5min [45min] ISO1600 LENR (complete frame)

Note: This is a short integration and more of a 'test' of 7DII than extended integration of the target

An a7S comparison shot here...

If you look at the pixel size, 5Ds/R 'seems' like a full-frame version of 7DII; I feel 7DII is a decent option between ~$4K 5Ds/R and under $1K Canons in APS-C world? Regards

Dear mmalik,

I have a fujifilm X-E1 camera and has been used it for almost 2 years for astro-imaging, and now I decide it's time to get it upgraded to a new level :D
Wish I live in US so that I could sent my camera to your services for modification, however because the cost for shipping  the camera from VN to your address in US and vise versa is way over my budget, so I decide to mod the camera my self.
Basically, I know to let all the H-alpha wavelength hit the sensor, I have to get the LPF2 in the sensor assembly replaced by an astro-modified filter, but I don't know what filter is suitable to replace the LPF2 in this camera. Is it possible for the X-E1 to auto-focus after mod if I used the baader BCF (for Canon 40D...) inplace of the LPF2? And I don't know what is the size of the Baader BCF, but the sensor size in X-E1 is 23.6mm x 15.6mm, a bit bigger than the 40D sensor (22.2mm x 14.8mm), so the BCF might not fit in to the LPF2 housing. Could you recommend me a suitable filter for the X-E1 for this kind of modification?

Regards,

Phuc Dang

Phuc, you could try just removing the LPF-2 and not replacing it, the most common astro mod. Read more here...

I see X-E1 is APS-C (1.5x Crop Factor) which means Baader FBCF-400D... will be little smaller; so you could try fitting or just going without replacing LPF-2.

I could also do the mod for you; PM me as there may be ways to cut costs that fits your budget. Regards
