Resurrecting an old thread, but have a question about this scope's focuser.

?Is the chrome thumb screw in the bottom of the focuser supposed to serve

as BOTH the tension adjustment and lock in this single speed focuser?

Reason I ask is that I had the scope pointed close to the zenith last night

and put in a 409 gram eyepiece and the scope drawtube could not handle

the weight, and pull the diagonal closer to the objective to focus.  I put in

a lighter eyepiece and it was fine.  409 grams doesn't seem like a lot

considering the scope includes a camera adapter that could be used

with DSLRs.

I had thought this screw was for locking the focuser only.

I thought Crayfords usually had separate lock and tension adjustment

screws.  There are some other screws in the focuser body but I didn't

think it was a good idea to mess with them.

Just called Orion tech support, but with COVID and all, didn't get through.

Thanks.
