Here are some pairs that I use with my Edge 8" but have not yet chosen the finalists!:

25mm TV Plossls: (Might be replaced by 24mm Pans in the future, also adding 2x 32mm TV Plossls soon)

Sterling 25mm's (Ordered eyeguards for these, hopefully they will fit)

TV Delos 17.3mm (Great views, unfortunately they are a tad too thick and lenses a tad too wide (By maybe 3-4mm) so I will part with one soon. Provided some amazing views of the Sun and others! (is being replaced by 16mm Naglers or 18mm Radians)

Some ep pairs that I have sold:

UO HD Phase 2 Orthos (TV Plossls better for my eyes because of eyeguards, also found TV Plossls sharper)

Untitled.jpg

TV Nagler T6 13mm (Too strong for my scope on most nights, might be replaced by 14mm Radians)

TV 13mm Naglers T6.jpg

RKE 28mm's (Looking for a top lens from one as it has been damaged)

My collection as it is so far. I think I will start watching for the right pair in the 30 to 32mm range but since I have the powerslide function on the Earthwins I see no reason to look for anything else. I cannot imagine seeing any better viewing than I have seen with these two pairs.

10mm Delos, 15/19/24 Pans, 32mm TV NJ's for C8/C11/C14 SCT's

Hey Mike, what would you say is the biggest difference between the 32mm TV's and the 24mm Panoptics? I mean do you see the edge of the eyepiece barrels in either or both, or neither? I'm looking for a low power pair that will not show me the barrel if possible, just like the Delos and especially the Naglers, love that view. Do you think the 24mm Pans or 32mm TV's can provide a similar view? Thanks.

I'd say that in a long F/L telescope like my C14, the biggest difference is magnification which for me translates to more detail.

I can easily see the edges (Field Stop) in both although I find the 24mm Pans easier to "hold".

Gonna be hard to find a low power EP that doesn't show the Field Stop as these both have a 27mm Field Stop which isn't hard for the eye to see all.

Even my 35mm Ultrascopic It's easy to see the 29mm Field Stop.

In my experience the only eyepiece I tried which did as you ask (couldn't see the edges) were the 16T5's but I didn't like the tight eye relief and I also found them hare to "hold" the Image.

Others love them however.

Re-reading this I'm curious if you are speaking of the Field Stop a I can easily see this in the Delos as well?

Mike

Nice set Maurits! I received a 32mm TV Plossl yesterday and ordering another today, I love the wide 30mm lens! And now that my eyeguards on the Sterling 25mm's work, I love these 29mm lenses as well! Can't wait to try them! I'm also going to get 1 more 14mm Radian, 1 more 18mm Radian and 1 more 16mm Nagler to try those out too. I sold one 17.3mm Delos :( it's just a tad too big but still a nice binoviewing pair to have, maybe someday I'll get another back.

Hi Tamiji! Now those are some sets..I'm curious to know what you think of the 30mm TAK LE compared to 32mm TV Plossls in an 8" Edge SCT? I have one 32mm plossl and just ordered another one. Last night I was putting it in the binoviewer and may have noticed blackout if eyes are not perfectly positioned. But it's better I try this again with 2. I'm trying to understand if I should get an eyeguard extender from Tele Vue, I also do not wear glasses, but contacts.

How are you managing to binoview 22mm Naglers? With a Siebert 2" Binoviewer? What do you think of the view? Think it would be useful to someone with an 8" SCT?

TV Nagler 13 vs 16mm, which one do you use more if any? I have 1 TV Radian 18mm and looking for another, you seem to like those if you put a pic with them :) Same with the Tak LE 30's! Ever tried Brandon 32's?

The combination of clouds/supposed snow on the way, and looking at so many nice EPs in this thread, has led me to take the following pic...

row 1:  10 Delos, 12.5 UWA Docter

row 2:  16T5, 19 Pan, 24 Pan

row 3:  9T6, 7T6, 16 Brandon

I use them with a Mark V.

I use Takahashi LE 30 most with binoviewer.   I feel most natural with LE 30.  The second most used one is

Zeiss/TMB 25mm eyepiece.

Somehow I have eye positioning issues with Televue Plossl 32. I rarely use them with binoviewer.  I use them in finder scope.

Regarding eyeguard, I don't use it because it often causes fogging up eye lens.  If you are looking for a solution to steady eye positioning with eyeguard, I would use small ladder next to scope that you can lean on, hand on to hold you upper body steady.  For blocking stray lights, I use hood or jacket over my head if necessary.

I have a few binoscopes that I use Nagler 16/13, Nikon NAV SW 17.5/14 with.  They are equally used.

I have very little issue with short eye relief.  So I am fine with Nagler 16.

Docter UWA 12.5s sit in eyepiece holder of one of binoscope (yielding44x, 95mm aperture).  I think it is one of the finest eyepieces for binoviewing except weight.

Radian 18 was utilized more before Nikon NAVs.  I don't use Radian 18 lately.  I haven't used Brandon 32 yet.

For 2" eyepiece pairs, they are also for binoscopes, not for binoviewers.

Tammy
