nice zooms there

what baader versions are they?

no issue with merging?

Baader Mark III Clickzooms

no issues with merging at all.  I did have an issue with the thumb screws, as the thumb part came in contact with the body of the zoom, prohibiting full seating.  I replaced the thumb screws with set screws.  When I tightened the screws, I held the binoviewer vertically, watching for any canting of the EP, but none happened.

Ya, I don't have an issue buying eyepieces, just selling them!  (unless I find them troublesome).

But there's times when I purge the "vault" to fund something else I wouldn't otherwise be able to afford.

Is the Nagler 13mm T6 a good match for the Mark V binoviewer with a refractor scope?

Has televue the corresponding parafocal rings, or can I work without these?

I thought at first to the Ethos 13mm, but this is heavy when you have two of them in the binoviewer ... , so my second thought is now the Nagler 13mm.    :undecided:

What are the opinions on this?

They are good, but the 12.5 Docter UWAs are much better.  Since I got them, I don't use my 13T6 pair at all.  Actually, in this thread, in my photo of my eyepiece pairs, I forgot to include my 13T6 because I haven't seen them in such a long time.  They live in a drawer.

If you are worried about weight, though, the Docters are certainly heavier and larger than the 13T6.  That doesn't bother me at all on my scope and mount, but obviously that would vary.

Now I really doubt to the choice between the Nagler 13mm T6 and the Ethos 13mm for the Mark V.

My TOA is strong enough to hold the Ethos and my IPD is oké, but is it really worth to buy the Ethos above the Nagler for binoviewing?

Ps

I have already one Ethos for monoviewing, so if I buy one Ethos 13mm extra for binoviewing than I have about the same costs as when I buy two Nagler 13mm ......... ;)

What do you "guys or girls" think about that?  I really dont know ...

It's probably my favorite wide field eyepiece in the MkV with my refractors. The MkV is designed so you don't need parfocal rings, you just dial both eyepiece holders out enough to allow the eyepieces to seat all the way. There is plenty of adjustment room by design to accommodate this eyepiece. It's a one time adjustment, no need to mess with rings.

Actually this is a point that has been previously discussed ad nauseum, and some people prefer to use the rings than dialing out the eyepiece holders.  See Sergio's photo for example.

Anyway, though, the Docter 12.5 are much better eyepieces and could also be considered, in addition to these and the Ethos.

The poster asked if the 13 Nt6's would work in the MkV without the parfocalizing rings, hence my answer that the MkV is designed to do so. One only has to dial the holders out once in their lifetime to accommodate the longer eyepieces, not much of a burden. For those who don't want to do that the rings work, too.

Baader Mark III zooms. Takes the place of fumblin' around with changing out 5 different pairs of eyepieces. Very sharp to the edge of field and precisely parfocal......at least with my set up!! ;)  Mike

WOW that's a Bino SET!!!! Those ZAOs must be nice on planetary!!!

Do you have a couple of FAVs??? DO you have problems merging some like the XW?

Hi Tank,

Yes, my favorite binoviewing eyepieces are Tak LE 30, Zeiss/TMB 25 and Docter UWA 12.5.

Tak LE 30 is used most in binoviewer.  Docter UWA 12.5 is used in binoculars.

Indeed, Zeiss A-II 10 and 16 work great in binoviewer for any target.

6 and 4 are usable but they often suffer from fogging eye lens issue due to short eye relief.

I am fortunate that I don't have any merging issue with eyepieces whose IPD matches to

my face :)  There are some eyepieces a little uncomfortable but I learned to get used to it.

Tammy, what would you say are the main differences between a pair of 30mm Tak LE's and a pair of 32mm TV Plossls? Concerning comfortableness, sharpness, etc. Thanks!

I prefer LE 30 over TV Plossl 32 for sure.  In fact, I don't think I used TV Plossl in binoviewer for years.

It is hard to say which one is sharper but I am sure I can stay concentrated in binoviewing much easier/longer with LE 30 than TV PL 32.

By the way, when I use LE 30, I tend to use high power Barlow lens in front of diagonal, which extends eye relief.  I think native LE 30 eye relief is 18mm, TV PL 32 eye relief is 22mm.  Too long eye relief may be contributing to eye positioning issue with TV PL 32.

For now, I have for the BV the next pairs: TV plossel 32mm, pan 24mm, pan 19mm, delos 17,3mm, nagler 16mm, nagler 13mm.

When I will buy the final pair the "nagler 11mm", is this a good lineup with the others, or is this waste of money, becauce I have also the Takahashi 1.5x extender that I can use with the above eyepieces ...... for different magnifications.

That is quite a lineup. What differences do you notice when using the 17.3mm Delos pair vs the 16mm nagler pair. Or can you give us a nice detailed review on all the pairs on Jupiter maybe? And on open clusters.

If you like the 13mm Naglers, than yeah why not lol! Especially if cash is no issue. I heard the 11mm are great!!! I think the Naglers have the best AFOV for binoviewing, it's just too bad the eye lens and er are small, especially for the 16mm.

Question: I saw your nice scope and observatory on your website, how do you view when the target is not at zenith? It seems so hard.

When the scope is not in the flat position I can see with no problems from 25°+ up above the horizon.   :)

From the pics on the website it looks a bit like an "optical illusions" ..... but I can see very good around.

Well, I think about a pair naglers 11mm for binoviewing with the Mark v and the TOA 150.

Is this overdone with these eyepiece pair?
